The Difference Between Mental Health Problems And Illness

Health, as defined by the World Health Organization, is ‘a state of full mental, physical and social well being and not just the absence of sickness and disease.’ Various definitions have been employed over time for many purposes. For one thing, it has been seen as a state of total fitness. In another dictionary, Health is ‘the condition of being wholesome; sound in mind and body.’

In a more modern perspective, Health refers to a complete physical and mental well-being. To be healthy, you need to be mentally and socially well-balanced. The word HEALTH is rooted from the Latin ‘Hexterus’, which means ‘to link or bind together’. So, to be healthy, you need to have both health and mental balance. Thus, the concept of health is to be in a state of total well-being, including both mental and physical health.

Today, there are several ways of measuring health and well-being. Many people refer to it as quality of life; however, when we speak of public health or psychology, we typically use the term subjective wellbeing. Because of the way we talk about it, most people assume that only physical illness and disability should be taken into consideration when talking about this topic; however, this is not necessarily true.

The fact is, both health and mental wellness are related. It would be impossible to be physically healthy and psychologically healthy at the same time, and neither one would fall into the category of public health or psychology. There are many interrelated components that make up the quality of life, including bodily health, general health, family life, work life, social interactions, leisure time and emotional health. Thus, public health and psychology refer to different aspects of the same concept, which is wellbeing. They are not, however, mutually exclusive concepts.

A very important part of being mentally well is to be well yourself. This means you have to be happy with yourself and feel good about being alive and well. If you are lacking in confidence and do not think that you are a good role model for others, it may be difficult for you to gain the confidence you need to pursue your goals and live a happy life. Similarly, if you are suffering from a physical illness, you can improve your mental well-being by getting the proper medical attention. However, even if you are doing well physically, you need to have an attitude that allows you to take care of yourself. Similarly, being physically ill does not necessarily mean that you are psychologically ill.

Some people are born with physical illnesses and some people develop mental illnesses. One of the biggest gaps between the two is how we treat their condition. It is possible that a person who is healthy on the inside but has a mental illness that destroys the quality of their life. On the other hand, they could also be born with a physical illness and develop mental health problems that are quite similar to those of a bipolar disorder. In these cases, it is much better to try to get help than to simply accept the fact that you are ill.
